*Different types of visceral pain are the following:

1.Pleuritic pain:
A sudden, severe, stabbing, burning, sharp pain during expiration. It gets worse by coughing, sneezing and laughing. It occurs as a result of parietal pleura inflammation and pneumonia.

2.Colicky pain:
Sharp, localized GI or urinary pain that can raise abruptly. It tends to come and go in spasmlike waves. It can happen repeatedly over weaks, months or years. That kind of pain is present in cases of cholecytitis.

3.Gnawing pain:
A dull, constant pain or hunger pain, seen in cases of peptic ulcer.

4.Flank pain:
A discomfort in upper abdomen or back and sides. It develops in area below the ribs and above the pelvis. Usually the pain worsens on one side of body. It shows a serious medical condition such as nephrolithiasis.

5.Precordial pain:
A non-serious condition in which there is sharp stabbing pain at chest. It gets worse by breathing and occurs in a small area. Spells of pain usually last less than a few minutes. It can be seen in cases of muscular trigger points in chest and abdominal muscles.
